Mates Of State Get Naked

Kori and Jason of Mates of State have been muses for many a hipster’s late-night journal scribblings on what it would be like to rock out for a living side-by-side with your boo. It has been said before, but we will say it again: This husband-and-wife duo border on the achingly adorable. From their love-gaze-filled shows to their “finish each other’s sentences” interviews, they are truly an indie rock dream.

Mates of State are also a peta2 dream, because they can’t stand fur either. They want people to drop the pelts of tortured animals from their wardrobe so badly that they were not afraid to make a statement by taking it all off for the cause. Need evidence? Rock Sellout CD Giveaway

My friend Eric White from the Milwaukee band Heathrow was kind enough to offer us a few CDs and stickers for this giveaway.

Returning from a weekend trip to Smart Studios in Madison where the band finished the final mixes of their forthcoming release World Opinion Is With Us with Mike Zirkel (Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins, London Suede). Eric took the time to talk with Rock Sellout about the late spring/early summer release. More about that closer to the release date.

Kicking Squealing Gucci Little Piggy, Mon!

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke expressed his approval for Radiodread from the stage during a performance in Philadelphia on the first stop of the band’s US tour. According to USA Today, “In a rare moment of onstage chatter, Yorke said he listened to Toots & the Maytals version of “Let Down” from Radiodread. ‘It’s good,’ he said.”

In case you’re not familiar with Radiodread: It’s the Easy Star All-Star’s reggae re-vision of Radiohead’s OK Computer. Not familiar with them or Easy Star Records? Make a point of stopping by their MySpace site and learning more about both while listening to their versions of “Let Down”, “Karma Police”, and “Airbag”.
